How is it possible that Sven Dobler isn’t in the advertising hall of fame? Bernbach’s in there. So is Ogilvy. Rubicam. McCann. Chiat. All in. And yet no Sven Dobler? It just doesn’t make sense. While everyone else working on a perfume account was struggling to describe the newest fragrance—it smells like an autumnal windstorm…no, it smells like rain-soaked danger—Sven was figuring out how consumers could experience it for themselves. You see, Sven’s the guy who invented the peel-and-sniff magazine ad that literally changed the smell of perfume advertising more than 30 years ago. And now more than ever, the advertising business is the domain of Sven Doblers everywhere.
